Kindle
Kindle Rewards
Designed Kindle Rewards from the ground up: a points-based loyalty system that incentivized print buyers to convert to ebooks and audiobooks, deepening engagement across the Amazon Books ecosystem.

Problem
Millions of Amazon customers still bought print exclusively, despite owning a Kindle-capable device. The team needed a low-friction reason to try digital — without cannibalizing existing print revenue.
Approach
Built a rewards layer that paid out points for every ebook and audiobook purchase, redeemable against future Kindle, Audible, and Prime Reading content. Designed onboarding moments inside the Kindle app, the Amazon storefront, and post-purchase email to surface the program at the highest-intent moments.
Print-to-digital conversion
Targeted offers met print buyers where they shopped: a one-tap upgrade to the ebook edition with a points multiplier on first purchase. Conversion from print-only to mixed-format readers grew significantly across the program's first year.
Outcome
Converted millions of print-only customers to ebook and audiobook readers and generated $120M+ in incremental revenue in the first 12 months. Member retention outpaced non-members by 2.4x.

On the design
Rewards needed to feel generous without overshadowing the reading. Lifestyle photography of real readers anchors the program, paired with a clean points UI, soft serif accents, and a warm neutral palette that nods to paper. Earn-and-redeem moments use light motion and clear hierarchy so the value is obvious at a glance — and onboarding surfaces inside the Kindle app, the storefront, and email all share the same visual signature.
